Hi,

We really appreciate your posts since what is happening to you in PA is not happening (yet) to us in WV because of the economy. Not that there isn't crazy drilling here in WV, but that Cabot (one of many companies involved in oil & gas exploration) is focused on PA now. We all know that will change any time.

Cabot has operated in this area since at least the 1940s. Their well sites have become larger and the reclamation method they now use means that what was once forest becomes a barely grassed open area. The sad thing is that they aren't a totally incompetent corporation (we've seen worse) but they seem to be more than willing to ignore the problems they cause.

We have a blog at http://sootypaws.livejournal.com and a website (this will take you directly to the gas well section: http://members.citynet.net/sootypaws/Woods/gaswell/index.html).

I hope that Cabot lives up to their responsibilities (rather than crow on their website, www.cabotog.com, about the huge gas yields they are getting) and does the right thing. It's going to take a lot of pressure from everyone to make these companies act responsibly.

Thanks!
